I was super excited to be asked by Andover to write a little tutorial using Thomas Knauer new fabric line Asbury and knew exactly what I'd love to share with you!! Thomas has created a few ADORABLE cheater prints that I just LOVE and why do I love them... you ask??!! Because YOU can make simple, quick projects from them without them looking too busy!!
Thus, I give you the Asbury Cheater Baby Quilts!!
Super Simple, but completely adorable!!
41" X 52"
Supplies:
1.5 yds of Cheater A
1.5 yds of Cheater B
1.5 yds Batting (you'll have extra)
Thread/ Turning Tool/ Scissors/ Rotary Blade/ Ruler
First cut the selvages off using your Rotary cutter and ruler. Then square up your 2 cheater print.
Lay Cheater A print onto the batting right side up. Next lay Cheater B print wrong side up onto Cheater A. Smooth out any wrinkles and pin together the quilt sandwich.
Starting in the middle of the bottom edge of the quilt, start sewing with a 1/2" seam allowance around the perminder using Cheater B as your edge guide. Remember to backstitch at the beginning and the end of the seam. Leave a 6 inch opening by the close of the seam.
Trim any extra batting away from the sewn quilt sandwich and snip the corners to give the quilt nice, crisp corners.
Then simply turn the quilt inside out through the 6 inch opening and push your corners out with the turning tool. Press the edges. Using an invisible stitch, hand sew the 6 inch opening closed.
Here's the fun part! Using the Cheater print as the guide and selecting a decorative stitch that you like with the fabric, simply machine tie the quilt together!! Easy Peasy!!
That's it!!.. In under an hour you'll have a lovely and useful Baby Quilt!! Now you'll never have an excuse to purchase those nasty store bought ones, if you're running out of time and need an adorable baby gift!! Hahaha... In fact, I'll be mailing off the blue one to little Colton to make lots baby messes on!!
Now let's have some fun!! For the Give-A-Way... Andover has generously give me 20 Charm Packs of Asbury to give 5 lucky winners!! It's my personal opinion that one needs 4 Charms packs to do anything worth a damn, so it's party time!!
Leave a comment here to earn an entry!
and if you "Like" Andover Fabrics Facebook Page... You can Enter again!!
I'll leave this Give-A-Way open until February 15th 9:00pm PST!!
Have fun kids and I hope you enjoy this tutorial & adorable fabrics!!
