soOOooo not about fabric.

nope... if you are looking to get inspiration for a crafty project, just stop reading right now! LOL this post is about a girl who just wanted cute new blond hair ( with bangs! ). she kinda had good hair before her trip into the salon this week... but, that was all about to change. i hear everyone goes through this once... i dunno, i guess group suffering does make me feel a bit better, but then a little sad too... cause i don't want my kids crying too! ( yes, a whambulance was needed. )
here it is in all it's Hillary Clinton charm... good grief. it started off very mod, until i washed it the next morning after my run ( yes, yes... still trying to beat that back with a stick still too ). anyways, something went chemically wrong, real fast. let's just say clumps of singed hair was what was left....
so... a day later, another 4 hours in another salon, and probably 3 bottles of wine... this is what's left. please grow soon hair... the girl needs it!

i'm just real glad it's a Yammy night... cause, i need my lady friends something fierce! Xo, Heather

  3. Well I think your hair looks cute! But poor you. I recently had my hair cut much shorter and I liked it for about 2 days and now I hate it! My kids hate it and my husband doesn't like it much either. I'm growing it again.....sigh.... and unlike you, I chose this hairstyle :(

  4. Heather I'm so sorry. My daughter just did the same thing. She's colored her hair since she was 12 - yes that seems way too young now but she was a very old 12 year old! It's been exactly half her life now and this last color change she had teal hair. She had decided to bleach that out and go with something closer to her natural hair color. Now since it's been 12 years since we've seen her haircolor I'm guessing it's not the burgundy she chose but certainly thats got to be closer than the teal. Anyway, the bleach she used burned her hair and scalp and the burgundy came out kind of a lighter plum with a lot of silver. She got it cut way short to get rid of most of the burnt stuff. It's really beautiful now - I love the cut but she does still have the silver. (She really doesn't love that I say it's a beautiful pewter color LOL)

I love your new cut...and it will grow back.

  5. Uhoh! Somebody needs to go back to beauty school....or perhaps find a new career! First of all the cut is adorable, and I mean, just look at your face. YOU are so adorable that even a botched color job couldn't wreck ya! As far as the damage goes, the most wonderful thing about hair is it grows! It will come in all shiny and new and this little mishap will soon be a distant memory!
Enjoy your Yammies tonight. I'm a little jelly. Wishin' I had some yammies to sew and giggle with. :)

  6. Well for what it's worth - I think it looks cute!

  7. oh My Dear!
Hair tragedy is Real Tragedy. I totally understand. I lived through 3 whole days of bright orange "highlights" which ended up closer to a whole head of RonaldMconald hair one time when I was trying to do something fun and cool.
I hope for a quick recovery for you. : )
p.s.-- It's not as bad as you think it is.

  8. I think your hair looks way cute. It suits you. The only trouble I find with short hair is that you have to have it cut every six weeks to keep the style. If you're willing to do that, then keep it. And it's nice to read a blog that isn't always quilt or fabric related.

  9. Thats looking pretty cute now! But gosh a bad hair cut, color just is such a bummer. The good thing...it grows back/out!

  10. Aww...it looks super cute sorry about your mishaps!!! Look at the bright side it won't take long to style it ;) It looks fantastic!

  11. Aw, Hill, I like it. You're adorable with your new cut and fancy glasses!

  12. Im not sure what it looked like the first salon trip, but I hope you know that you are totally rocking this short hair style! Seriously - super cute... I wouldn't say anything if it wasnt :)

  13. Aww Hon! I am so sorry. I hope it makes you feel better if I say I think it is super adorable and very fashionable even if it wasn't what you were looking for :)

  14. Your hair looks too cute! I think the new do (even if it was sort of an accident) looks great and like you meant to do it. I'm sure you'll get use to it and if not don't worry hair grows back quick.

  15. Oh, oh, oh!! What a horrible experience. I've had that happen once with a wave perm. (Overheard the chick say to another hairdresser, while I was waiting for the solution to time out, "I forgot to put the protector spray on before I rolled, so I just sprayed it real good before I applied the solution." This did NOT work!) Eight inches of hair fried to tiny squiggly worms. The rollers had to be cut out after about 4 inches were unwound. EEEK!

Good thing you're so cute, though. You pull the short look off very nicely! Like the blonde on you, too. :)

  16. The pics are great, love the cut!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah, I had a perm (supposed to be a gentle goddess wave) that made me look exactly like Harpo Marx. It was a blonde afro basically. I have the world's straightest hair, so they must have burned the cr@p out of it to get it that curly!

I wore a hat for about 3 months ... it was the 80s ... it was hell. I made them straighten it once a fortnight for free ...

    So, I totally empathise.

BUT ... this cut looks absolutely fab on you ... get a bit rough and ready with it (take advantage of the texture) and off you go. Spiffing. I think you'll grow to love it once it (and you) recover a bit from the shock of all those chemicals!

  18. cuuuuuuute. Also, I LOVE those glasses. I want.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I actually love it-I think it's a very flattering style for you

  20. I think you look super cute but I also know the feeling when you go in for one thing and come out in tears! When I was in high school I went in for a trim and while my back was turned to the mirror she made me into a boy...which is pretty rough when you're a teenage ultra-geek!

    ReplyDelete
  21. shizzle lady - that's what happened to my hair when I went blonde. It just went mouldy and fell out. In clumps. However, you could go bald as a coot and still look fierce and hot and one sexy mama, so don't sweat it. And all the best people have short hair...you, me, Brioni, Kate, John, Ryan, oh...wait - those last 2 were guys...but still.....I LOVE it and I'm not just saying that. K?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I agree I think its really really cute on you Heather! Keep it! And you don't look like Hillary at all...promise.

  23. Hair nightmares are such a pain, I've had too many to list but I have to say you are totally rocking this look!!I hope your Yammies lift your spirits :)

  24. I think it look super funky!! and it suits you. It's funny how when you see someone for the first time you just assume that that's their style. I think it looks fresh and modern.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think it looks rockin'! Just remember that hair does grow back!

    ReplyDelete
  26. So sorry about the fringed hair and clumps! Dyeing hair is tricky and I've always had bad luck with it. I'm kinda curious to which stylist it was so I can avoid her/him. :) Just kidding. The cut is cute, it will grow back out and hope it all heals.

    ReplyDelete
  27. it may be shorter than you wanted but it is still cute! I'm sure it will grow on you. Hopefully you got your money back! I would be so upset to pay for all that work only to have my hair fried.

    ReplyDelete
  28. well, since it is pretty close to my style, I've gotta go with it (I have my bangs longer, so they'll stay tucked behind the ears). Cutey-cute-cute indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The new do looks cute even if it is not what you had planned. I love that third pic! Too cute! It's only hair and it grows back. don't sweat the small stuff. And errr, find a new stylist. ;o)

  30. Don't you think that by this point in our lives we would know better than to mess with our hair!! I have been crying for two months (literally CRYING) over the loss of all my hair....damn who ever created chemical hair straighteners to tempt all us girls with curly hair to ruin it! and those hair bleach creators right along with them. Luckily for you, yours looks cute!! I just look like a chunky almost 40 year old boy!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well that stinks. I'm sorry! I think the new cut is cute though, and at least it happened to someone that can pull it off with their sassy attitude, though ;]

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think it's very cute and sassy! But I know what a shock it can be (I donate mine every three years, so yeah, suddenly short is tough!). Rock it out, Heather--you got this!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Give it 2 weeks before you decide you don't like it. I love short hair!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh wow, it really brings out your eyes, so cute, and short hair is IN..seriously, too pretty! (you are also ROCKING those glasses..mine always seem to disappear any time a camera comes in my direction ;-))

    ReplyDelete
  35. I hate that you had a bad experience with the chemicals, but I think the cut is adorable! Way more mod than Hillary!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think you look super cute! What a nightmare though! I haven't had a decent haircut since we moved and I've been too scared to even think about keeping up my highlights..boo bad hair!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think it's so cute on you! A sassy summer cut suits you.

    ReplyDelete
  38. oh, i think you look super cute, my friend!! so sorry you had to go through all that though. no fun!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am sorry for the bad experience. I think your hair is really cute! You do look so cute in short hair.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hi Heather, You really suit the fair hair, even if it is shorter than you wanted. :)
However, I think the first salon should reimburse you for your expenses, for BOTH salons!!!
There is no excuse for a hairdresser being so careless! :(

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hillary, I do not think so!!!! Super cute and fun for summer!!!!! Sorry for the bad experience but looks good on you!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh my gosh! Hair nightmares are the worst! I recently got the worlds worst highlights. White blond streaks and dark brown streaks! What was my hairdresser thinking??? I grabbed a box of L'Oreal at the grocery store the next day and it now looks awesome! And my hair didn't fall out after all the coloring. I got very lucky. But really, your cut looks adorable! I'm just sorry you lost hair in the process! Hang in there!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I know it's not what you wanted, not what you hoped for, but you do look pretty damn fetching - you can definitely pull off cute and short and almost-elfin (without looking like a 9 yo!) I hope you get to enjoy it a little...and then it grows superfast so that you can get the style you originally wanted all along! Hugs to you - from another who has had tears over cut hair...

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think it's really cute! Hang in there, it will grow!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well your hair looks fab. But I just can't get over how beautiful your skin is.

    ReplyDelete
  46. While it doesn't sound like the process was fun, I think you look cute!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Your hair looks cute! Be happy it is not PINK - mine was once when I thought I wanted to be strawberry blond.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think it looks fab! Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet up but I TOTALLY understand a hair emergency!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Well, my dear, at least you can totally pull this look off. I think you look very sexy & mod. I've been really tempted to take the scissors to my hair during raging hormonal fits lately, but thankfully the cardinal rule of pregnancy is to NEVER cut your hair off. Otherwise I'm sure I'd look like that Grimace McDonaldland creature right now!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Despite the traumatic events that led you to this hair it looks great on you. I hope it grows in healthy for you soon. Mine is a little more a-symetrical now and I am not quite sure about it.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh you look so cute. Sorry about the bad hair hair experience. I have had a few myself and I can relate.

    ReplyDelete
  52. It's SOO cute!!!!

And please give back my glasses!!! I TOTALLY wore those in the 3rd grade!!!!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm confused because it looks SO CUTE! In fact, you may have pushed me over the edge to get my hair cut short. :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. If you come out that cute from a disaster, you are way cool ahead of the game! I'm sorry though because I bet you still feel bad. That takes a while to go away. Truly, the second stylist worked magic because you really do look smart and chic.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oh dear ... no waahhhhmmmbulence needed ... you are truly beautiful ... Sorry you are having hair issues, but you have a face far more beautiful than any haircut. If you didn't say there was a problem, I'd think it was pretty darn cute on you. Happy thoughts, happy thoughts!!

  56. I think it looks adorable but it's not my hair.
We've all the horror stories only made worse when the kids and hubby and say "Gee, honey/mommy what did you do to your hair?" It's seems like forever waiting for it to grow out. Thankfully there are hats and headbands which would both look fabulous on you!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I feel ya, but I must say that my poor, bedraggled locks would welcome looking as good as your bad! I think you are adorable! Truly!

    ReplyDelete
  58. You look cute as always..those chemicals are always a crap shoot aren't they?

    ReplyDelete
  59. If there are bad spots I can't see any in the pics - the cleanup must have gone very well! I think the result is supercute. Very sad that it had to come about in such a horrific way, though. I can't imagine hair falling out in clumps! I'm sorry :(

    ReplyDelete
  60. I think it looks great! But it stinks you had to go though all of that!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I think you look cute! Big hugs!

    ReplyDelete
  62. i think it's super cute! :) and the glasses are cool.

  63. So mod! the new cut shows off those beautiful eyes!!
As a great quilter once told me, there are NO mistakes, only design opportunities--this was a great opportunity for you to try something new! And wow! It's sop darn cute on you!!!!
