Modern Log Cabin Quilting

lOVE, lOVE, lOVE Susan Beal's new book, "Modern Log Cabin Quilting"!!!... i truly can NOT say that enough... if you don't own this book, you are missing out my friends! it's a must have in any quilter's library! period. There are so many favorites in this book, i have been overwhelmed where i should begin! here's my fav's, some plans, and and example of her cleverness! ;)

i am in love with the Anniversay Quilt and the embroidery blocks that Susan sprinkled through out it... so, when i was at the beach this past weekend i picked up this pattern to use with it!
it has all nine of the Oregon Coast's Lighthouses!! i can't wait to start stitching this beauty up!

the Recyled Cords Pillow today! wull... kinda. i didn't actually have any old cords! haha... i wish! but, i did have some yummy brown wool... so, i went with it! it was a very quick project that ends up adorable! would you like to try??... i have extras for this exact pillow. leave a comment below and i'll draw a winner on my next post! :)
am i the only one extremely excited by this book??... can't you just die!! do you all have a book that you just can't recommend enough to others too???... do tell kids! we would love to know ( and by we... i mean me! ) hehehe....

  4. Wowee I LOVE that cushion. Everything about it. Seriously. What is the dark blue geometic print on the left hand (as you look at it) outside? Looks like it could be Neptune, but its not, right? Oh and it all goes so brilliantly with the brown. I should use more wool!

  11. I saw a picture of this book on PurlSoho and wondered if it were new. Just dying to delve into it! Some people have 'bucket lists'. My lifetime will be spent on a 'make-it list'. And that Clouds in the Sky Duvet Cover is going on it!!

  18. I am going to have to get Susan's book for sure! I still love Elizabeths book but the book that got me into all of this was Quilts! Baby so many talented quilters contributed. Of course I love your pillow. You are the giveaway Queen I am keeping my fingers crossed.

  29. That's just gorgeous! I have a huge list of quilt books my husband needs to order for the library (definite bonus of marrying a librarian - also no fines!) and this is going on it!

    The book I keep going back to isn't actually a quilting one. It's glorious inspiration by kaffe fassett, and it's just full of amazing, inspiring decorative objects. Perfect for figuring out colour schemes.

  35. I have to agree with you! I have the book also and made a couple things and have lots of marked pages to make more! I made the drawstring bag and a zipper bag so far.Have fun!

  63. Oh I DO have some brown cord capri's that I've had for years that I just so happened to have set aside in a recycle pile last weekend because they have a worn in them - (run on sentenance I know) -- I love that pillow!

Oh, pick me, pick me...I have this book on my to buy list but the fabric for the pillow is exactly what I need...my couch is so bare and I have been looking for blues and browns in a pillow and can't find any premade I like...these fabrics would be perfectly perfect! Thank you for the awesome blogging...your inspiration causes me to buy more and more...that is a good thing! Lisa in Texas
