i'm stuffed!

i am stuffed!! there is so much "stuff" in my studio... i can't put myself in there anymore! of course i know why i'm so stuffed ( "self" made me buy lots of fabric ), but i've actually allowed it to get so out of control... i can't get to my sewing machine anymore!! i'm completely embarrassed with myself and must... must clear some out! this is ridiculous!

i mean, how can i not... get some of this! it's just so right... right?? but, when you think in those terms so often, things can get a bit crazy! ;)

i have even started pulling out { idea quilt } fabrics to make more room... but then they just stack up too! ( i really want to make these into a new quilt for my oldest though! )...

yesterday, i made a rag quilt... just to use up a few yards of fabric quickly! desperate times call for desperate actions! i haven't made one of these quilts in like a year... but, i must say i enjoyed it! it's like your first car, has a special place in your heart...!

i finally decided ( after much consideration ) to reopen my Etsy shop to remove some of the stuff. i'm not sure what will end up in that shop, but hopefully it will lead a path to my sewing machine... to... well, make more stuff! LOL Xo, Heather

  1. Don't worry, my room is much worse! I also have a walk in closet with 2 FULL bookshelves housing fabric. And lots of bins of projects. It's the good kind of clutter. :)

  6. I so love seeing someone who has more fabric that me! My fabric and project bins and shelves are all overflowing, and yes, I'm headed to the post office today to pick up yet another parcel of new yardage (yay, and "Gaaaaack! I've got to sew some of this stuff up!"). Don't know what happened to my new year resolution to sew more and shop less, but clearly it has gone out the window.

  8. I have never made a rag quilt. I suppose I will have to give it a try sometime :)

  9. I don't know, your cluttered studio makes me feel good. All that fabric!! So pretty.

Plus, I feel less guilty about my own mess. No matter how many times I reorganize it is still messy.

  10. wow! my room is much less stuffed... and much smaller. But I do love taking a peek into your room! Also, it's like you read my mind with your music. I know I've said it before, but really? Adelle, my new music love? Right at the top of your music list there!

  11. Holy crap Heather! Looks like fabric threw up everywhere ;) Good luck with the shop, some pretty low ballers on etsy now :(

  12. I love it all, and you can never have too much fabric. You just need another shelf to store it on. :)

  13. Wow!!!And I thought I loved fabric...lol...You have such beautiful fabric...and I just love your sewing room :)

  14. Heather, I have some serious concerns about all that natural light in your studio fading your myriad piles of gorgeous designer fabric. You need to send them here for safekeeping in my dimly lit lair of a sewing room.

  15. I am very happy to see some one else has "piles" too. Part of the problem is fabric just keeps getting better and better! Have you bought any of the new Denyse S fabric?

  16. Hazzah! I won the fish tank fabric. Can't wait to make that super cute pillow. Thank you so much. I love the title of this post and your fabric collection is.....crazy awesome. Darn it, now I'll be checking your etsy shop for fabric. I might as well get stuffed too. :)

  17. It's like rippin goff a band aid. Stock the etsy shop quickly, do not hesitate and once it is out of your house you will feel 100 times better.

    Trust me x

  18. I'll be more than happy to come help you get rid of some of that fabric! ::wink::

  19. It's so hard to clear out the fabric of all things isn't it. My sewing room is so piled with my sewing stuff, my daughter's machine and sewing stuff and then all the odds and ends. Oh yeah - thats where her chinchilla lives too. I'm going to miss her when she moves out again - this time to her own new home but it will be good to have my extra room and a sewing room back again.

  20. I will be stalking (LMAO) your etsy store!!!!! So glad you decided to start throwing some things in there again. I can't wait! Going to look now! :)

  23. Very impressive! I've realized that I barely dip into my stash so I'm "trying" to only buy something if I have a plan for it.

  24. Wow...look at all those windows! And your own room, even...no wonder you sew so much--and really, you do sew quite a bit compared to some of us (aka me)!

  25. I love the windows, but I FEEL your pain. I have fabric in piles everywhere, even on the FLOOR!! It is out of control... "I will think about that tomorrow." (just like Scarlett O'Hara)
    :)

  26. I feel so much better, my husbands thinks I am the only one with bins upon bins and fabric stacks on the floor!

  27. Wow! I think I seriously have stash envy! Lol...

  28. I am totally willing to make myself available to come over and take some of that good stuff off your hands -- but just because I love you so much. It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it -- right?

  29. All stuffing aside ... the view of your room is beautiful :) Love the windows and it's a wonder you get anything done :) lol I do understand the 'overwhelming' feeling of stuff though and wish you lots of success in your etsy sells, but you know that just opens you up for new purchases ;)

  30. Love the studio, all that color everywhere, but it would drive me nuts as well to have it out of control. I for the most part have stuck to my resolution to shop my stash first, and I only have probably 1/4 of what you have. Those windows are great, reminds of my sunroom in my other house that I miss so much. Good luck on getting it all under control. Will be watching for updated photos.

  31. Can I have your stack of fabric please ?
How I'd love to be stuffed that way !

  32. I love all the light you have in that room!!!!! I keep my fabrics and bins in the guest bedroom closet so I can walk in the sewing room. That way I can just close the door to the bedroom and not have to see the piles of projects left to do :o) And the the hubby cannot see what I have brought in that is new either,LOL!

  33. I've been having the same problem lately. But I WISH I had your stash problem! I would gladly come and take some of it off your hands. ;) Especially all those fabulous scraps!

  34. A few questions about your lovely rag quilt:

Did you use cotton on both sides? I keep finding tutorials with flannel but I'd like to use cotton and I really like yours.

It looks like there is an extra layer on the fraying part - did you cut your batting too or is that really just the 2 layers of fabric showing?

Any tips on making a similar quilt? This is super cute... looks very snuggly!

  35. Move over SISTA I may have you beat! I've got tubs by the zillion and NEED to do something too.. I had hope to ship it all to you.. wink!

  36. You made me feel a bit better. I'm not that bad...at least not yet. Looking forward to see what pops up in the etsy shop

  38. I pulled some fabric to sell today too. They just keep making more.

Jealous of that sewing room and some day I'm going to come sit in that chair.
