got my cheater card ready... just in case i get stuck while i'm moving along these wonky log cabin blocks! but, please know... i'm not sweating over any of these... the reality of this style of block is, that you can go off preferred color palette and they will still look fabulously funky!!... so, no whambulances, k!
here's my first six blocks... four of them still need quilting though... but, i'm more than excited about all the possibilities... here's two blogs that have been showing some crazy examples!... a few scraps and 365 Days of Free Motion Quilting Filler Designs !! have fun checking these kids out! :)
and for all those interested... this is what the back of my quilted blocks looked like... however, no one will ever see them once the quilt is finished!! ;)
and holey shiz! check out what came in the mail today from one of my sweetest online lOVES... miss Nova!! this crazy cat loves to quilt so much she made me my Single Girl quilt top out of yummy Anna Maria Horner fabrics and my favorite Kona... Medium Grey!! it's going straight out to the quilters... so, this is the only sneeky peeky for you until she is home and binded! :) isn't miss Nova the BEST!!
a few little stash builders came this week too! i lOVE coordinating prints... and these were screaming my name!!... heather... heather... buy me... your husband will never know... promise... hehe....

ReplyDeleteOMG!! That fabric collection! What a great space. Def gotta check out that free-motion blog. And that new fabric - where did you get that? It is apparently also screaming Caroline you must buy me your husband will never know (well maybe unless he gets the mail that day, then you are screwed).
ReplyDeleteThose are some gorgeous fabrics. I'm seriously drooling on my screen. Just curious, how much do you buy when you are stash building? I haven't bought anything yet that wasn't for a specific project.
ReplyDeleteArgyle. Yes!! Is that newsprint fabric by Sweetwater? If it is, I'm sure having a hard time finding any...
ReplyDelete*sigh*
The blocks are awesome!
I've only been following for a short time, but I just LOVE the music. On most other blogs its a mad rush to find the player and kill it- but yours, I just love.
ReplyDeleteyour blocks so far are awesome!! not that I would expect anything less from my girl! That single girl quilt top looks delicious....that Nova seriously ROCKS!!
ReplyDeleteOhh where on earth did you purchase the girl friday writing line fabric? ...I have been lookin' n lookin' with no luck :( btw that Nova is a super star. sang(at)gci(dot)net

ReplyDeleteJust a question, what is that cheater card? Thanks :) all the blocks look lovely.
ReplyDeleteLook at that lovely studio space with all that natural light and neatly folded fabrics. I'm super excited to watch your quilt along. It's vicarious pleasure.
ReplyDeleteJealous! Everything is so gorgeous - your blocks, photos, new fabrics. I especially love the graph paper and writing lines fabrics.
ReplyDeleteHeather .. I am sitting her absolutely drooling over your scrap bin .. you see I've started a quilt-along too. Your scraps are scream to go dotty .. pop by my blog to check it out. Maybe I could interest you in a scrap swap. Happy stitching from a sunny Belgium!
ReplyDeleteOh heather! I am looking for that writing line fabric and can't find more of it anywhere! Can you spill? Where'd you find it???
ReplyDeleteI love the new fabric, is that actually newspaper fabric? Where did you find that? Would love it for a bag for work...
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of your giant bins of scrap awesomeness. Seriously. Awe.
ReplyDeleteoh, love your new blocks!! that is going to be such a gorgeous quilt, my friend!!
ReplyDeleteOk. I have a question. I am really wanting to do some sort of quilt as I go. I have block made up but am not sure where to go from there. Do I quilt the batting and backing? Do I just quilt the batting? If I do just the batting w/the block how will I then do the backing later to attach it? Confused........Can you Please, Please, Please help me out. I have been working on this quilt since late last year and I want it DONE!! :0)
ReplyDeleteThanks for any help you can give me.
Angie
BTW, I just love your blocks!!

I am amazed by your Stash! I have the same question as Becky...how much do you buy at a time to build your stash up. I am just starting out and want to build up a stash.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing the back of the blocks, but how do you connect them and then quilt the final product?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Jen
Just a quick thank you for linking to A Few Scraps and 365 DOFM... wow I needed a few reminders on several how to's. Oh and I have serious Girl Friday fabric envy (online?)
ReplyDeleteOMG, I thought I had too many fabrics and they do not even come to a quarter - not not even an eigth of what you have. All my fabric fits into (with room for more) two fabric Safeway shopping bags.
ReplyDeleteI am in total fabric envy right now! I dream of a space and of a stash like yours..... someday!
Oh, you are making me jealous with your bright sunny workspace and your new stash additions. I have already proclaimed my love for the Girl Friday prints and the... is that wheels brown plaid? But the newsprint and the argyles - be still my heart, I think it is a-leaping out of my chest. (Yeah, I'm exaggerating, but not by much. Argyle is my favorite color.)
ReplyDeleteLOL! I want to come see your creative space! My fabric collection could fit on one of your shelves! Maybe two at the most! I want to sit under your cutting table and scavenge for scraps :D -- and, of course, listen to you talk, you sassy thing you.
ReplyDeletewhere did you get the girls friday? i'd love to find some for my quilting bee.
